I LOVE receiving wedding invitations in the post. Not only because it means a friend or family member is getting married, but because I love to see their stationery (I’m a bit geeky like that).
Wedding stationery comes in all kinds of different styles and designs. They range from the super traditional to quirky and themed.
So as someone who has changed their mind on their wedding stationery twice (oops), I’ve spent quite a long time trying to find the perfect invitation set.
We are having a themed wedding, and our invitations are going to reflect that theme. They could not be classed as ‘traditional’ invites by any stretch of the imagination, but they should get our guests thinking about what our wedding will be like before they get there!
A good invitation should reflect you and your partner and the type of event you are holding. For example, Letterpress invitations are some of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen. They are classy, elegant and traditional. But they’d give the wrong impression if you were holding an outdoors picnic wedding. Likewise, a really informal, cartoony and jokey invitation would be a bit out of place for a very traditional cathedral wedding.
Here are just a few of my favourites to give you some inspiration. And remember, if you aren’t adverse to a bit of DIY, many of these can be made at home to save some extra pennies.
